Course 995: Assignment: Washington D.C.
In this course, participants will experience a number of unique learning venues in the Washington D.C. area. Information gained from these field experiences can be used by educators in a variety of ways: a resource for students, a field experience site, and a resource for professional growth. Self-guided tours and exploration will invite participants to explore ways of incorporating the activities and sites into their curriculum and school programs.
Below is a brief outline of the course (a syllabus with detailed course requirements will be emailed to you upon processing of your registration).
For 1 credit:
1. Site Visits: The number of sites visited and the time spent at each site is completely up to you, but you must spend a minimum of 11 hours exploring the sites you choose. Include photos of yourself at each site.
2. Reflective Journal: Participants are required to keep a journal of their reflections.
3. One Detailed Lesson Plan: This lesson plan should be a detailed summary of how you plan to use one or more of these field experiences in your classroom and/or curriculum.
For 2 credits:
1. Site Visits: The number of sites visited and the time spent at each site is completely up to you, but you must spend a minimum of 20 hours exploring the sites you choose. Include photos of yourself at each site.
2. Reflective Journal: Participants are required to keep a journal of their reflections.
3. Two Detailed Lesson Plans: This lesson plan should be a detailed summary of how you plan to use one or more of these field experiences in your classroom and/or curriculum.
